Business 101

The best way to learn about business is (1) to hang out with others who are actually doing it, and (2) to do it yourself.

What do you think of having an opportunity to build a simulated business from scratch? You would have to research products and services, find a niche, prepare a legitimate business plan, gather the necessary resources (including people and money), launch the business, and set your sites on the ROI. Do you have the courage to stop dreaming about your own business and begin doing your own business?

Do you really have what it takes to build a successful business from the ground up? Do you have enough courage to discover the real answer to that question?

Around here, you are expected to build your own successful business, from scratch, in the online virtual 3D world, Second Life^©. Second Life isn't "just an online game." It is vast world of people and places, and it offers an incredibly realistic social/economic system. It is an ideal sandbox for the would-be entrepreneur.

Basic membership is free. Optional costs can be as little or as much as you want to make them.

Three Strikes and Yer Out?

It seems that successful business owners tend to have a history of at least two business failures. Those who survive and thrive have something else in common: they didn't stick other people, including innocent taxpayers, with their unpaid bills. It takes energy, determination, and a powerful sense of integrity to take on the full responsibility for a business failure--the very qualities, incidentally, required to succeed.

About this Program

num_1.gif (1139 bytes) This online study program is designed for a peculiar group of people — those who sense they are destined to plant and grow a successful business of their own. It's for those who know, down really deep, that they can ultimately do nothing else.

This online study program is not suitable for the sort of individuals who simply want to "be their own boss, work their own hours, and take vacations whenever they want." The hard truth of the matter is that an entrepreneur is not free to call all the shots. Rather, they are just as bound to circumstances and the marketplace as employees are bound to the orders of their boss. And, yes, you can work your own hours, like 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.. And let's see ... the most recent vacation was six years ago. Or was it eight?

If you are with me so far, you might — just maybe — be ready to try this course.

It isn't just a collection of power points, checklists, multiple-choice questions, and fluffy motivational hoopla. In fact this isn't about taking a course at all — it is more about taking an active part in your own learning process. It's about getting immersed in business ideas, examples, plans, and perspectives. (Some ideas even contradict one another. Imagine that!) Starting a real business isn't a simple matter of going through a carefully crafted checklist — it takes a heap of learning, thinking, and listening. And this study program draws upon those very qualities that you need for starting a growing a successful business. In short, if you can handle this study program successfully, it is very likely you are going to eventually make your business work.

By the way, I'm not expecting you to love me...just to do what I say! Those of us who have to spoil your pet fantasies in order to point the way to real success are never loved and appreciated. But that's okay with me. After all, this is business bootcamp!
