If you are building your business within someone else's vision, you are still an employee or contractor ... no matter how it looks and feels. |
This program is most meaningful because it gives you a chance to build a business of your own in the 3D virtual world, Second Life. If you can make a business work in Second Life, you can make a business work in the real world. To be sure, the business and cultural dynamics are somewhat different in Second Life, but the types of personal fortitude, thick skin, and approaches to to creating, growing, and sustaining a small business are identical.
Work at your own pace. Different people learn in different ways an at different rates. So we aren't going to lock you down to a schedule. Take as long as you need, or whiz through it in no time. You are the one who will benefit from finding your own pace. Devise your own study sequence. Starting a business — a real-world business — is not a tidy linear process. Rather, it's a spaghetti mess of intertwined, overlapped, and knotty ideas, processes, and contradictions. So read some lessons from your online course. Think about the ideas, surf the web for different angles on the same ideas, and you will soon develop a sense of order in your studies. |
You have to start somewhere, so start by reading the first few chapters of the textbook. If you are truly expecting to learn something, you will be catching onto the process. Take lots of notes and spend time thinking about the new ideas and considering any contradictions you might discover in the study materials. Once you get up a head of steam, you can skip around all over the place in the book. Bear in mind, however, that we are not telling you exactly how to start your business--we are just putting you into an intellectual and emotional environment that will help you succeed. When You are Done If there is no fixed study guide and everyone works at their own pace, how do you know when you've completed the course? You'll know when you are done. You will eventually exhaust the resources and learning opportunities we offer. That's when you are done. That's it. FAQ
