Religion

When classified as a social science, religion is treated as a social force that pervades nearly every known culture throughout history.  The studies consider the role of religion in everyday life as well as shaping the course of cultures and nations.

Religion is studied from others perspectives in the Free-Ed.Net departments of Philosophy and Theology (to be opened in the spring of 2010).

Sociology

Social science is generally defined in terms of the study of society and the function of individuals and groups within it.
