air, earth, and fire. Today's earth sciences are a bit more
sophisticated, but they are all about the air around us, the earth
beneath our feet, and the bodies of water that cover most of the
world.

General Earth Science
There are two levels of general earth science. The first refers to
courses that provide a broad, but relatively
superficial, view of of the earth sciences.
Such programs are often taught as science
requirements for non-science majors. The
second level refers to the non-technical
aspects of earth science, such as its history,
philosophy, and social implications,

Meteorology
A program that focuses on the scientific
study of the prediction of atmospheric motion
and climate change. Includes instruction in
general circulation patterns, weather phenomena,
atmospheric predictability, parameterization,
numerical and statistical analysis, large- and
mesoscale phenomena, kinematic structures,
precipitation processes, and forecasting
techniques. |
