Dividing Complex Numbers
Polar Form

This is the  formal expression for multiplying complex numbers in polar form:
 a Ð A = a Ð(A - B) b Ð B b

The procedure for dividing two complex numbers in polar form is fairly straightforward.

Here are two different complex numbers:

6Ð20° and 3Ð15°

Here is how to show that the two values are to be divided:

6Ð20° ÷ 4Ð15°

or

 6Ð 20° 4Ð 15°

To divide these numbers, first divide the length components

 6Ð 20° 4Ð 15°

6 ÷ 4 = 1.5

Then subtract the angular components

 6Ð 20° 4Ð 15°

20° - 15° = 5°

Putting together the length and angular components:

1.5Ð

So the overall result is:

 6Ð20° =  1.5Ð5° 4Ð 15°
