| 3. Pentatonic Major Scale. a. A Pentatonic Major scale is constructed starting on the first degree of a Major scale. A Pentatonic Major scale contains the tonic (1), supertonic (2), mediant (3), dominant (5), and the submediant (6) of a Major scale (Figure 5-4).
b. The Pentatonic Major scale corresponds to a black key scale on the keyboard from G
c. The tones omitted are the tendency tones in a Major Scale: the subdominant (4) and the leading tone (7).
