Series XL

 

The total reactance of a series inductor circuit is equal to the sum of the individual reactances.

Equation

Series Inductive Reactance:

XLT = XL1 + XL2 + XL3 + ...+ XLn

Where:

XLT = total inductive reactance

XL1 , XL2 , XL3 , XLn = reactance of the individual inductors

XL1 , XL2 , XL3 , XLn = reactance of the individual inductors

You might notice that the general equation for parallel inductive reactances is identical to the equation for parallel resistances..  That being the case, the product-over-sum equation works for two inductive reactances:
