Equation

The impedance of a parallel RC circuit is:

Z = RXC
R2 + XC2

Where:

Z = Circuit impedance
R = Resistor value
XC = Capacitive reactance

 

Currents in Parallel RC Circuits

 

 

Equation

The total current of a parallel RC circuit is:

IT = IR2 + IC2

Where:

IT = Total  current in Amperes
IR = Resistor current in Amperes
IC =Capacitor current in Amperes

 

Equation

The voltage phase angle for a series RL circuit is:

q = tan-1 IC
IR

Where:

q = Phase angle in degrees or radians
IC = Capacitor current in Amperes
IR = Resistor current in Amperes
