About This Tutorial

This is not just about learning how to simplify dc circuits. That is important, of course; but the procedures and analytical thought processes you develop here will serve you well in other kinds of circuit analysis.  Becoming a good electronics technician or engineer requires that we think like a good technician or engineer. These exercises help you learn to think in productive, analytical ways that will pay off in many different ways.

The Basic Idea

Any resistor circuit, no matter how complicated it might first appear, can be reduced to a single resistance value, or equivalent resistance. Series circuits, parallel circuits, and combination circuits can all be reduced this way. And it is an important procedure to master.
