The visual arts represent the human spirit and condition in the form of pictures and objectsphotographs and sculptures, for example. In essence, the visual artists says, "I have something in my mind that I want to express in a way that others might see it, too." And they set about to do a painting, take a photo, make a video, or design an object.

The visual arts can be very "artsy" and altruistic in nature, or it can be very ordinary and highly commercial. Any one of the visual arts can be a simple hobby or a challenging and rewarding career.

And believe me when I say the visual arts are loaded with independent career opportunities that aren't found in the usual job fairs and school  curricula.
