For
our purposes here (lifelong learning), the performing arts
are forms of human expression that take place in real time.
Contrast this with the visual arts where the object of art
is created at one point in time, then effectively "frozen"
for the appreciation of others in the future. And that's it.
I'm not going to go through the mental contortions that are
necessary for aligning a definition with traditional
academic standards.
