What is General Science?

"Hi. What do you do for a living?"

"Oh, I'm a general scientist."

"What does general scientists do?"

"Uh-h-h, science, generally."

There is no such thing as "general science" in the world of science. Those two words refer to a common science curriculum devised for traditional schools and titles of the textbooks they use. General science is certainly not a career choice (unless you want to make it one).
